What is the cracking sound made during an adjustment? 
Chiropractic adjustment is a quick, sudden stretch on a specific joint. The immediate pressure change in the joint causes a sudden release of gas bubble. This can lead to an audible popping sound commonly associated with adjustment. This is similar to opening a can of soft drink. The pressure release from opening the can causes gas bubble to escape, thus causing a fizzing, popping sound. 

On a side note, the popping audible click doesn’t equate to a successful adjustment. It is purely a byproduct of an adjustment. A chiropractor’s goal is to improve the mobility at the hypomobile joint. 

Does Chiropractic Adjustment Hurts?

Contrary to beliefs, a chiropractic adjustment shouldn’t be painful at all. In fact, a common feedback we get after the adjustment is the ‘lightness’ and relief felt on the body.
